Task 4- Presentation

Make a Power Point/ Prezi Presentation which documents your experiences in LA. The presentation should include 6 slides. Write a short summary of the following subjects and attach photos you took that are connected to it. Send me the presentations and I'll upload them to our blog.

1) IN THE BEGINNING- all beginnings are hard?/ !
2) SCHOOL LIFE IN LA.
3) HOLIDAYS IN LA.
4) MY AMERICAN FAMILY.
5) PLACES I VISITED.
6) MY BUDDY.

Look at the following examples from Sharon Karniely's blog:
 Slide 1:IN THE BEGINNING
"The flight was long but we all were together so it was easier than I thought it would be.
When we got to the LAX all of the American kids were waiting for us and the meeting with them was so amazing, I thought it would be a little awkward although I talked with my buddy (Nicole Shanley) a lot, but it was like we were already friends forever. On the first day we went to a pool party at one of the kids houses and it was a wonderful beginning for us to get to know everybody."

slide 2: SCHOOL LIFE IN LA.
School life in America is so different than school life in Israel; the classes in America are 55 minutes and a long period is 75 minutes! Sounds like torture, but it goes by faster than the classes in Israel that are 45 minutes each lesson. Also, we have after every two classes a break but they have only two breaks every day: 2 times a week you have grade meeting where they tell you all the messages and the other 2 times you have what its called bonus where in that half an hour you can talk to a teacher and they can help you with all this things that you need help with. The other break that we have is our lunch which is 45 minutes to eat and relax. They have a kosher truck that is like our cafeteria but on wheels. Because I studied math in summer vacation I don't need to study math so its fun and every day I have classes until four but! I don't study on Saturday or Sunday so I have long weekends.

slide 5: PLACES I VISITED
Things we have been too, and things we have done:
1. Shabat dinner at Alejandro's house.
2. hiking and third st promenade.
3. Venice beach.
4. Santa Monica
5. shrine lake.
6. Labor day pool party.

Sukkot

During Sukkot Holiday the book of Ecclesiastes קהלת is read in the synagogue. The author and “star” of this book, King Solomon, brilliantly composed it and went into detail saying no matter how rich and famous you are and no matter how much you own, you will never reach true happiness. The following song (lyrics below) conveys this message and others as well. What other messages can you find in the song? Are they, in any way,  connected to your delegation?

Back to Basics

All is vanity
And a chasing after the wind
Said the king
The rise and the fall
The great and the small
Said the king who'd seen it all
Said the king who'd seen it all

The sun rises
The sun goes down
The wind blows south
And it turns around
All the rivers run unto the sea
The sea isn't full
And nothing is new under the sun
If you see something new
You know it's been done
So go and have fun and enjoy being young

Chrous
That which is crooked cannot be made straight
And too much wisdom can get your real mad
And knowing too much can get you real sad
But laughter is foolish and joy: what does it get?
I tried to be happy by drinking some wine
I built myself houses and gardens of all shapes and all kinds
I gathered silver and the treasures of kings
I got myself singers and big bands and blings
So I was greater than anyone before
Whatever I desired, I got it and more

Chorus

There's reason and time for everything under the sky
A time to be born and a time to die
A time to break and a time to make
A time to love and a time to hate
Sometimes sorrow is greater than laughter
And sometimes sadness can get your heart higher
Sometimes the hardcore yelling of the wise
Is better than the pop song of fools and the sweetness of lies
And yesterday's heartaches can be tomorrow's good old times
Now don't be overly righteous nor overly wise
I've seen the just men suffer and the evil men thrive
When the wise don't get the fortune and the skilled don't get the fame
And no one knows who's winning or losing this game
